Sri Lanka is an island not far from the southeastern tip of India (about 3 days plane ride, including stopovers to London or Amsterdam and Dubai in the Middle East). Now independant, was once a British, a Portuguese, and to a limited extent a Dutch occupied colony. Tea, prawns (baby shrimp), and rubber are among the major exports from there. Quieter, slower lifestyle than in the West, ruppee's the currency, & rightfully attracts a lot of vacationing tourists (esp. English, French, Italian, Germans, and Scandanavians. If you blink, you might miss the beautiful beach sunsets. If you shut your eyes too long you might get run over by a baby elephant. [SMILE]
